A multi-meda presentation is one which utilizes audio and video for a campus event, in the classroom, a workshop, or other activity. The current software of choice is Microsoft PowerPoint, which allows information to be displayed via a video projector in a classroom or where required.
The Butte College Media Production Department can assist in the creation of slide backgrounds, scanning of pictures, saving it to CD or preparing the presentation. Moving images and sound are usable but must be encoded first.
The elements of a multimedia presentation can be created entirely within the presentation program itself, but can also come from a variety of other sources. Photographs (Digital or scanned), objects (Such as the campus logo), video, audio can be used, as well as customized backgrounds. The Butte College Media Production Department can scan photographs, create a slide background to any specification in PhotoShop, encode audio/video, and insert them into the presentation on your laptop computer, or provide them to you on disc. Pictures and images in the common graphic files can be used.
Plan out your presentation and gather all media material (Pictures, picture files, video and sound). If scanning/encoding is required from the department, schedule to have that done along with any other assistance you may require.
Video can be encoded from SVHS, VHS, DVCPro, or ¾-inc videotape, a video file supported by Power Point, or a video device supplied by the client. Audio can be encoded from videotape, cassette tape, CD, an audio file supported by Power Point, or an audio device supplied by the client.
Pictures/images can be scanned, transferred by disc, or via email as well as any images in commonly used graphic files (bmp, jpg, tga, gif, etc). Slide backgrounds can be created in Adobe PhotoShop using pictures, images, colors, objects, or a variety of combinations.
The presentation or elements can be loaded onto the client’s laptop or supplied on disc.
